Cellar-bration in Balaklava

Local Cellars in Balaklava is holding a grand opening this week and next and the business wants to give back to its customers as it cellar-brates its future in the community.

Foodland Balaklava owners Mike and Megan Smith opened Local Cellars Balaklava across the street from their supermarket in early December, offering a range of beers, wines and spirits for the community.

Mike has stated that Local Cellars is an extension of Foodland and looked forward to joining the growing Local Cellars network across the state.

Since opening in December, the Smiths have been pleased with the community response from the locals, providing another option for customers and a wide range of products.

Across the next two weeks, Local Cellars Balaklava is giving back to its customers as part of its grand opening celebrations, which includes deals on some top brands, in-store tastings and giveaways.

Today, from 3pm to 6pm, people can enjoy some 36 Short tastings in-store, as well as enjoy some tastings of DeBortoli Wine on Thursday, March 21 and on Wednesday, March 27.

There are also free giveaways people can look forward to on Wednesday and Thursday next week.

Meanwhile people can also take advantage of deals currently going on some of the store’s top brands, including XXXX, Hard Rated, Jack Daniels, DeBortoli, Baileys and Wild Turkey.

With retail experience of more than 60 years, the Smiths aim to bring high quality service through Foodland and now through Local Cellars in Balaklava, and appreciate the continued support of local customers.

Mike says they always aim to look out for their customers, listen to feedback and supply the products people want, with shoppers always keen to look around and try the different brands on sale.

People can expect more from Local Cellars in the future, including a tribute to the building’s history as Balaklava Motors with a mural painted on the side paying tribute to the Underwood family.

However eyes are also firmly in the future and the Smiths are looking forward to the future of Local Cellars in Balaklava.

Always remember to drink responsibly.
