Speeder caught at Crystal Brook

A man was arrested and a woman reported after a traffic stop at Crystal Brook.

About 3pm on Tuesday 26 May, police were conducting speed detection duties on the Augusta Highway when they stopped a Subaru station wagon travelling 169km/h in a 110km/h zone.

Police will allege the driver attempted to change places with the passenger just after the traffic stop.

Checks on the driver’s licence showed it was disqualified and the car was unregistered.

The driver a 39-year-old man was arrested and charged with speed dangerous, excessive speed, drive whilst disqualified and driving an unregistered motor vehicle.

The passenger a 38-year-old woman was reported for failing to truly answer.

The driver was bailed to appear in the Port Pirie Magistrates Court on the 27 July, and the passenger will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
