Industry recognition in once a decade event

Ahead of Clare Valley Gourmet Week’s 40th anniversary celebrations, a rigorous assessment and judging process by a dedicated selection panel has determined the finalists for the premier event of recognition within the local wine industry.

Held once a decade, the Clare Valley Wine Hall of Fame recognises exceptional achievement and innovation in the growing of grapes, production of wine, brand marketing or as an ambassador for the region over a significant period of time, honouring those who have influenced and contributed to the Clare Valley wine industry.

The 2024 Clare Valley Wine Hall of Fame Gala Dinner and Award Presentation will be held at O’Leary Walker Wines on Friday, May 24, with a series of the regions significant contributors singled out for their contributions to the industry.

Big names will attend the event, including ministers, regional identities and the nation’s leading wine and food media. Master of Ceremonies, local South Australian writer Katie Spain, will guide guests through an evening of entertaining evening of food, wine and celebration.

In addition to the industry awards, select members of the Clare Valley Wine industry will be inducted into the Clare Valley Hall of Fame. These legends will be awarded and inducted on the evening, following the announcement of the industry award winners.

Chairman of the Clare Valley Wine and Grape Association (CVWGA) Mitchell Taylor said the Clare Valley Wine Hall of Fame Awards was a chance to honour the individuals who had significantly contributed to the ongoing development of the Clare Valley wine industry.

“We are thrilled to shine a spotlight on individuals who have made our industry what it is today,” he said.

“Through their involvement in winemaking, grape growing, innovation or marketing, these award nominees have all played an important role and shaped the Clare Valley wine region.

“The event will showcase the very best of the Clare Valley wine region, and we encourage members of the industry, as well as wine enthusiasts and visitors to purchase a ticket for what will be a memorable and spectacular evening of delicious food, amazing wines and legendary stories.”

Executive Chef at O’Leary Walker Wines, BJ and his specialist team have created a menu highlighting the very best of the Clare Valley, as well as South Australia’s finest regional produce.

The association will select current-release wines, and back-vintages from Clare Valley Wine’s museum stocks to accompany the food. The evening will finish with entertainment by Andy Easthope Music.
