Record early voting as SA polling day nears

A record number of early votes have been cast as South Australians prepare to cast their vote on Saturday on Election Day.

Early voting for the 2026 South Australian State Election opened the previous Saturday, with nearly 60 Early Voting Centres open across the state.

These include at Clare Town Hall and Two Wells Community Centre in the electorate of Ngadjuri, Kadina and Maitland town halls in Narungga, on Commercial Road in Port Augusta and Royal Port Pirie Yacht Club in Stuart, and Andrews Farm Soccer and Community Club in Taylor.

Electoral Commission of South Australia has reported a record 391,762 early votes have been cast across the state by 12.50pm today, which had far exceeded the 212,466 recorded in the 2022 State Election.

This included a record 86,718 electors voting early on Thursday alone.

Tomorrow will see about 600 polling day venues open across South Australia from 8am until 6pm.

People are advised to visit www.ecsa.sa.gov.au or call 1300 655 232 to find their local polling place or to find out more.

Telephone assisted voting is available for electors who have a sight or motor impairment, and eligible electors can call 1300 951 579 to vote by telephone.
