SA LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE DUBLIN REPORT
Sheep – 5 May
Numbers eased off this week as agents offered 5500 lambs and 1000 sheep. Quality was again extremely mixed throughout the offering.
The usual trade and processor buyers were active along with specialty butchers, feeders and restockers with prices generally reflecting an easing trend.
Store crossbred lambs, trade weights and light mutton were the exceptions with these selling generally firm on the previous sale.
Crossbred light stores from $180 to $220 as the better descriptions ranged from $230 to $240 per head. Trade weights ranged from $245 to $260, heavy trades sold from $260 to $270 with the few extreme heavy weights selling from $300 to $331 per head.
Light Merino stores sold from $130 to $150 with the better lambs fetching $200 to $230 per head. Trade weights ranged from $230 to $245, heavy trades sold from $255 to $265 with extra heavy weights fetching $280 to $310 per head.
Light mutton sold from $120 to $150, trade weights ranged from $160 to $190 with heavy weights fetching $210 to $245 per head.
