SA LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE DUBLIN REPORT
Sheep – 12 May
Numbers eased marginally as agents offered 5000 lambs and 700 sheep. The usual trade and processor buyers were active along with specialty butchers, feeders and restockers.
Competition was generally good with prices for most categories posting positive results. Trade lambs and mutton were keenly sought, particularly the heavier descriptions.
Crossbred light stores ranged from $180 to $220 as the better descriptions sold from $230 to $240 per head. Trade weights sold from $245 to $250 as heavy trades ranged from $260 to $285, with the few extreme heavy weights selling from $310 to $385 per head.
Light Merino stores ranged from $130 to $150 as the better types sold from $200 to $230 per head. Trade weights sold from $230 to $245, heavy trades ranged from $255 to $265 with extreme heavy weights selling from $300 to $355 per head.
Light mutton sold from $120 to $150, trade weights ranged from $160 to $190 with heavy sheep fetching $220 to $300 per head.
