SA LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE DUBLIN REPORT
Sheep – 14 July
Another small yarding this week as agents offered 3000 lambs and 500 sheep. While small in number, quality was generally very good for a winter sale with plenty of weight in the top end of the market.
The usual trade and processor buyers were active along with specialty butchers, feeders and restockers.
The return of an additional Victorian lamb processor order created some strong competition for heavy lambs with a near record $441 per head for an outstanding draft of Yorke Peninsula sourced heavy lambs.
Trade lambs also featured ideally weighted lambs with prices here also dearer. A small yarding of sheep sold to generally dearer rates.
Crossbred light stores sold from $160 to $200 as the better types sold from $180 to $230 per head. Trade weights ranged from $250 to $265 as heavy trades sold from $280 to $315.
Extreme heavy weights sold from $320 to the sale top of $441 per head. Merino store lambs sold from $170 to $230 as trade weights ranged from $250 to $280 per head.
Heavy trade weights ranged from $285 to $310 with extreme heavy weights selling from $330 to $380 per head. Light mutton sold from $140 to $190, trade weights ranged from $220 to $245 with heavy weights fetching $280 to $300 per head.
