SA LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE DUBLIN REPORT
Sheep – 21 April
Numbers reduced marginally as agents offered 7000 lambs and 1500 sheep. Lamb quality was fair to average on last week’s yarding with the mutton classes of mostly fair to good quality.
The usual trade and processor buyers were active along with specialty butchers, feeders and restockers in a market returning a mixed result.
While added restocker competition from northern areas and southern pastoral districts kept store prices mostly firm, agents quoted trade lambs easier by $10 and up to $30 per head easier.
Overall prices reflected eastern state’s results from Monday. Heavy mutton were also quoted as easing in price.
Crossbred light stores sold from $180 to $220 as the better types ranged from $240 to $256 per head. Trade weights sold from $245 to $250, heavy trades ranged from $275 to $285 with heavy weights fetching $320 to $410 per head.
Light Merino stores sold from $130 to $180 as the better types ranged from $210 to $245 per head. Trade weights sold from $230 to $245, heavy trades sold from $265 to $280 with extra heavies selling from $285 to $350 per head.
Light mutton sold from $120 to $150, trade weights ranged from $180 to $200 with heavy sheep fetching $210 to $250 per head. Rams sold from $100 to $156 per head.
